Seventh Session of the Forum on Minority Issues

Last 25-26 November, Budapest Centre Chair, Gyorgy Tatar, delivered a speech at the Seventh Session of the Forum of Minority Issues at the Palais des Nations in Geneva. The session discussed about “Preventing and addressing violence and atrocity crimes targeted against minorities,” providing an opportunity to examine protection of minority rights as a crucial factor in preventing conflict and in promoting sustainable peace when conflict has occurred.

On 17 November 2014 the Director of Research and Cooperation of the Budapest Centre, Dr. Enzo Maria Le Fevre Cervini, held a conference on the Responsibility to Protect and the new framework of analysis for atrocity crimes at the Vicenza based Center of Excellence for the Stability Police Units (CoESPU).

EDU Intergovernmental Organization awarded Full Institutional Accreditation to the Budapest Centre

Having satisfied the criteria as specified by the EDU Commission for Accreditation Standards, duly established by executive mandate by H.E. Irving LE-VANCE , Secretary-General of the Intergovernmental Organization EDU on July 1st 2011 and having passed an independent evaluation by the selected and designated Assessment Committee representatives, the Budapest Centre was awarded Full Institutional Accreditation from EDU on November 14th 2014.

On November 19 the Budapest Centre for the International Prevention of Genocide and Mass Atrocities will organize a workshop on the role of education in the prevention of atrocity crimes. This is a pre-event of the VII Budapest Human Rights Forum and will take place at the Central European University (Popper Room) between 9.00am and 6:00pm.
